§01 · INTRODUCTION

FittingsFab

A parametric configurator for hollow plumbing couplings. Pick NPT sizes for each end, see live dimensions, and export a print-ready STL with true tapered threads and a full water passage.

Grey PLA · 3/4 NPT F → 1 NPT F · reducing coupling
§02 · CONFIGURE

Design the coupling.

Every coupling is three sections: the left end, a hex body, and the right end. Water flows straight through. Pick a thread spec and length for each. The drawing updates live.

§05 · PRINT & ORDER

Print the final version.

Your test print told you the shape is right. Now make the same part in something that holds pressure — on your own printer, or ordered from a print shop.

What it takes to print the final version
PETG
Printer: Any home printer · filament kept dry · 0.12–0.16 mm layers
Garden hose and outdoor low pressure
ASA or ABS
Printer: Enclosed printer · all-metal hotend at 240–260 °C
Cold water lines you can still reach
Nylon PA12 or PA6
Printer: Enclosed printer · hardened nozzle · filament dried 6 h at 70 °C first
Indoor cold water · seal the bore afterwards
Tough resin
Printer: Resin printer · wash, then cure 2 h
Low pressure only · not for drinking water

Hot water, pipework hidden in a wall, or anything you cannot reach to check for leaks: skip printing and order stainless 316L or bronze instead.

Step 1 · Test fit at home (PLA)
  • Print at 0.12–0.16 mm layers on your own printer.
  • Screw it onto the real pipe by hand — no tape.
  • Check it seats without wobble and the hole lines up.
Step 2 · Order the strong version

Tip: test fit a PLA copy first — it costs cents, a metal part does not.

Wall around bore: 10.8 mm (min 3 mm)
Upload to a print service

Material: Nylon PA12 (SLS / MJF), finish: vapor smoothing, qty 1. Threaded part: 3/4" FNPT x 1" FNPT. Do not reduce wall thickness or modify threads.
